Parents, Students, & Patrons,
The end is certainly near for our 2009-2010 academic year. As a reminder, your son / daughter may attend summer school at COSSA this summer. Contact your respective building counselor to find out how.
On June 4th, we will announce the results for the 2009-2010 ISATS and subsequent school/district AYP status. Results will be announced via blog, email, and newsletter.
The District office will remain opened during the summer. If you need anything contact us between the hours of 8:00 and 3:30 Monday - Thursdays @ 459-4633 or 459-7442.
For now, keep your eye on the daily announcements for a schedule of upcoming events.
Sincerely,
Benjamin Merrill

Answering the budget questions ahead
Patrons, parents, and students,
I would like to personally thank each of you for your support during the current school year and beyond. This is a difficult time for all, families, small business, and schools. As the legislative session ended, we now find ourself working to understand what the changes to state funding and statute will mean at Notus School District. What we do know is that a budget reduction of 7-9 % has been passed on to the districts. Alicia and I are working to see how we can absorb those reductions with as little to no impact on students. Unfortunately, news from the state today predicts a possible 5% midyear holdback due to incorrect revenue predictions.
The decisions that must be made will be difficult, but those decisions will be made with your students well being in mind.
I call on each of you to participate in this process. On behalf of the Board Trustees of District 135 I invite each patron in our district and those patrons outside our district to attend board meetings to help develop innovative ideas to weather this storm. The answers to the economic puzzle can not be solved without your help.
I appreciate your thoughts, I am always available. Please call, email, or just stop by the High School Office.
Sincerely,
Benjamin M. Merrill
